For me, food and wine is a true sensory experience. My husband & I love to cook for our friends and we are always testing out new recipes on them. With the addition of wine, food can take on a whole new dimension. I have immersed myself, as much as my day job allows, into wine. Specifically wine from the Pacific Northwest.

As a Washington State native, I grew up with the fresh seafood and produce native to the area. I look forward to local strawberries in the spring & sweet corn in late summer. As well as fresh caught Dungeness Crab out of Puget Sound and the flavorful beef produced by local farmers. The Northwest offers an abundance of wonderful ingredients to work with.

Chandler Reach "Corella"

Chandler Reach Vineyards is located in Benton City, WA overlooking Red Mountain. Their 42 acre of estate vineyard is located is one of the warmest areas in the state. This no doubt has contributed to the medals and acclaim Chandler Reach has achieved with their wines.

The 2006 Corella is a Super Tuscan blend of 70% Sangiovese, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon & 5% Merlot. On the nose it was very clean with vanilla notes and a slight earth hit. Medium bodied and garnet in color. I tasted cherries and hints of smoke with a slight acidity and earthiness on the finish. This wine was an easy drinker on it's own, but it paired great with our dinner of beet salad with chevre & pistachios and chicken parmesan.
